I mostly travel for work, which means traveling with tech gear: laptop, iPad, phone, chargers, adapters, and more. Space is limited and all of this "gear" gets heavy, so I've employed hacks over the years for when I'm traveling for work or pleasure. Not that work is not a pleasure...I'm pleased to say that it is.
Here's a list of what I pack and where I pack it. Where you pack it matters when it comes to weight and convenience.
My carry-on is typically my unattractive but extremely practical dusty purple North Face backpack. It has a lot of miles on it and never fails me. It has so many places to stow items for easy access while traversing from home to my final destination.
The trusty dusty backpack contains:
Lip balm (critical item)
Two (2) packs of travel-size wipes (one pack for hands and surfaces, and the other for the potty.)
Phone wall charger and power bank with short and long cords. Sometimes airports have handy charging stations but you never know if you can plug in directly from the USB or if you need the wall charger. I've found myself in tight charging spots, and here a 2-3-inch cord is helpful. I also use a tech organizer to keep all my accessories handy and organized.
Snacks (critical item). You never know when you're going to find yourself in the middle of a travel hiccup. Letting yourself get hangry in these moments
